What is this game?
Kaos has blown up the walls of the feared Cloudcracker Prison freeing the most notorious villains in Skylands! It’s up to you and the Skylanders to find and capture them. What did I contribute?
One of my focuses on this game was to improve upon the enemy systems I had built for the previous title the team had worked on, which included converting behaviors to be systemic and more modular to reduce errors in scripting and make the creation and maintenance of enemies easier for the team, especially when it came time for bug fixing or debugging performance issues. Even with this I spent a good deal of time rewriting the custom parts of many enemy scripts to hit performance targets on device as we were still targeting the Wii with this release.
I created various enemies for the game and served as a leader and guide for the enemy team on combat design best practices, encouraging collaboration with the hero and level teams. In addition to this I helped the team design enemy sets with logically congruent behaviors that would challenge different classes of hero in different ways. Designing with logical intention rather than just by feel was a cultural shift I helped foster during my time on this project.
A monumental effort, I created the majority of the capturable ally heroes in the game. I did both the initial R & D and prototyping, and fully designed the powers for the allies and balanced their utility so that they were still useful when paired with any of the 100+ heroes in the game.
